Alpina Sports, the helmet and eyewear manufacturer that is part of the Uvex Group, processes approximately 74,400 orders per year. Instead of paper lists, the sporting goods manufacturer now relies on voice control. In the past, the company has preferred manual order picking in its 9,500-square-meter central warehouse in the Swabian city of Laimering, which moves a total of 2.2 million units per year. According to Alpina, this manual process guaranteed flexibility, especially during periods of high load. But the company has now introduced Lydia Voice from Topsystem. The pick-by-voice solution is directly connected to the company's SAP system. The Lydia Control Center – also completely integrated into the SAP environment – arranges the submitted order data for presentation. This provides warehouse managers with an overview of all processes relating to the assortment and allows them to react in real time to bottlenecks and delays.
