The demand for the American brand of running shoes has been picking up strongly in Europe following its acquisition in June 2014 by VF Corp., which is integrating it with its other sales and marketing operations in the region. As before, when it was owned by Icon Health & Fitness, Altra continues to focus on specialty running shops. A European web store is set to be launched in June.
The European project is being coordinated by Fabio Marangoni, who was appointed late last year to the position of brand and sales director for Altra in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is being assisted by Frank Warnars, who was previously taking care of the brand in Europe at Icon.
Marangoni, 42, reports to Martino Scabbia Guerrini, VF's EMEA group president, as well as to Todd Dalthausser, president of the brand. Marangoni remains stationed at VF's European office in Switzerland, where he served most recently as EMEA brand and sales director for another brand of the group, Reef, which has recently been divested.
He first joined VF in in June 2017 as international key account and sales manager for emerging markets, but left the group two years later to work for Diesel and Alpinestars. In June 2014, he returned to VF as area manager at Vans for emerging markets and distributors. He started his career in the sector in 2005 as footwear product manager at Intersport International.
