Andrew R. Jennings will be the new chief executive of Karstadt, starting next Jan. 1. The British native is joining the German retail group, which recently came under the ownership of Nicolas Berggruen, after 35 years spent in retail management, including stations at Harrods and House of Fraser in England, Brown Thomas in Ireland, Holt Renfrew in Canada and Saks Fifth Avenue in the U.S. Until the end of 2009, he was the managing director of Woolworths South Africa, a chain of 400 stores with an annual turnover of $2.8 billion that he helped to reorganize. Jennings will gradually take over the place of Thomas Fox.
