Anta Sports Products, a Chinese manufacturer and distributor of apparel for Adidas, Reebok and Kappa, plans to go public on the Hong Kong Exchange, selling 600 million shares offered at HK$4.28-5.28 and raising a maximum of $460 million. The company plans to use proceeds of the initial public offering (IPO) to fund the opening of 500 more retail shops in China this year, adding to its distribution network of about 4,000 stores in second and third tier cities in the country. Anta had a full-year net income of roughly $19.3 million in 2006. Its profits are estimated to grow by at least 161 percent to the equivalent of $50.5 million this year.
