ANWR BUNDLES ACTIVITIES IN ITS SPORT 2000 SUBSIDIARY; STEPS INTO SWISS SHOE

Ariston-Nord-West-Ring, the big purchasing and marketing organization for shoe and sports retailers with more than 5,000 points of sale across Europe, is the new helm of Swiss Shoe, Switzerland’s footwear buying group. Effective Jan. 1, the group will be integrated into Sport 2000 Schweiz, which is ANWR’s organization of sporting goods retailers. Currently, Swiss Shoe counts 14 shops in Switzerland and Liechtenstein; Sport 2000, which moved into Switzerland in 2005, has 157 points of sale there.

On the other hand, ANWR has decided to cooperate closer with its sports subsidiary for the German market. Its shoe division, ANWR Shuh, is about to transfer its wholesale business, especially for basic and never-out-of-stock items, to Sport 2000. Company officials say that this move results from the sporting goods buying group’s stronger volume and higher number of products than what is sold through ANWR’s warehouse. The idea behind this move is to install operations in those divisions of the group that are the strongest in each respective business.

To achieve this, Sport 2000 Germany has appointed an additional managing director, Ralf Gross. The 51-year-old served for Vanteno, a service company in charge of IT solutions and logistics that is – like Sport 2000 – a subsidiary of ANWR. Gross is now the third managing director of the sports buying group, next to Jens Fischer in charge of operations and finances, and Andreas Rudolf, the head of sales, marketing and purchasing (more in Shoe Intelligence).
