Anytime from now to July 10, bicycle companies, mobility companies, designers and developers – whether they exhibit at the Eurobike trade fair or not – may register their latest products for the 15th annual Eurobike Awards. The criteria for all awards, including the Green, Start-Up and Gold Awards, are available online at: www.eurobike-award.com. As of this year, e-bikes will no longer be judged separately, as all bicycle categories now have electric models. Moreover, the organizers have added a category for micromobility products, such as electric scooters. The rationale – as Dirk Heidrich, project manager at Messe Friedrichshafen, explains – is that it is better to help shape the new and growing trend than to stand by and argue about whether it's a threat to the bicycle industry. Entrants are judged in two stages: first by digital selection, then by a panel of 12. The winning products will be announced on the Eurobike show's first evening and put on special exhibition in the Messe Friedrichshafen Foyer East during the show and put in a special online gallery year-round. Start-Up finalists will be able to pitch their product from the stage. Eurobike 2019 is scheduled for Sept. 4-6 at Messe Friedrichshafen in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Eurobike Festival Day, for bike fans, is scheduled for Sept. 7.
