Ariston-Nord-West-Ring’s board of directors has appointed Roland Schwerdtfeger as chief executive of the ANWR group, a German service company which is among others the parent of Sport 2000 Deutschland and of ANWR Schuh, an international buying group with 3,800 affiliated shoe shops. He will replace Joachim Siebert who will leave as planned next June 30 to go into retirement. Schwerdtfeger, who is 50 years old, will join ANWR in Mainhausen already next Feb. 1, leaving Kaufhof where he has been lately in charge of business development strategy for its stores. As sales director at Karstadt since 1997, he gradually took responsibility for 24 stores and then for 47 of them.
