Ashworth Golf Company has acquired the Sun Ice and Sunice trademarks from the Fletcher Leisure Group (FLG). FLG, one of Canada’s leading suppliers of golf apparel and equipment, is owned by Ashworth’s new chief executive, Allan Fletcher, who has been with the company since October of last year.

The purchase was made in return for a portion of the future income before amortization and depreciation (EBITDA) of Sunice Holdings, a new company-owned subsidiary established by Ashworth, which will be run by Edward J. Fadel, president of Ashworth. The new entity will own the brands Sunice and Sun Ice and will produce a golf-related technical outerwear line this year for markets in the USA, the UK, Ireland and France.

The outerwear collection will be marketed and sold by the sales and marketing teams of Sun Ice and Ashworth. The tie-up should help improve and promote the technical value of Ashworth’s licensed Callaway brand, and strengthen its current position on the golf apparel market.
