Ashworth is not the only golf company facing a smaller headcount (see story above). Acushnet, the Fortune Brands company that comprises Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra, has announced that it will be offering voluntary separation packages to about 4 percent of its staff in the USA, or 125 employees, followed by layoffs in February. The trims are a result of the poor economy. Employees who are offered a separation package, largely those over 60 years old who have been with the company at least 25 years, have until the end of January to accept. In another market, VF Corporation has said that it will be seeking an unspecified number of job cuts in its jeanswear and services groups, including the information technology section. VF Corp.’s brands include The North Face, Vans and Reef.
