Asia Bike is breaking off from its parent show, Outdoor Asia, to be a standalone event next year. From Sept. 19-22, 2013, Messe Friedrichshafen will hold the bike event at the Nanjing International Expo Center in China. Organizers are calling it a “small Eurobike.” It is the first trade show focused on sports and luxury bikes, bike wear, and accessories in China. This year's show, the second ever, was held July 26-29 and drew 238 exhibitors, up from 138 over last year, who attended from 14 countries. There were 10,428 trade visitors and 3,751 consumers visiting the 24,000-square-meter fairground, up from 12,000 square meters last year. In its Show in Show program, which focuses on the high end of the market, the highlight was the €35,000 Pearson bike from New Zealand. Even if you shell out that much money, you'll still have to wait one to two years for delivery.
