Asics has announced a strategic partnership with Bluesign Technologies, the Swiss-based global partner for a sustainable textile industry, to strengthen chemical management throughout its supply chain. The Bluesign system, adopted by more than 500 companies worldwide, eliminates harmful substances from the beginning of the manufacturing process, while setting and controlling standards for safe and sustainable textile production. The new partnership enables Asics to utilize Bluesign's assessment tools for chemical management across its supply chain. More specifically, the Bluesign system provides Asics with tools such as the Bluefinder and the Blueguide. The finder allows suppliers to access a database of chemicals that have received Bluesign approval. The Blueguide will help Asics select sustainable materials by providing access to a database of Bluesign-approved fabrics, accessories and trims, produced with safe chemicals at verified factories. These tools will now be utilized throughout Asics' global supply chain, the company said. One of Asics' sustainability targets is to expand its supply chain management scope to include Tier 2 suppliers, and joining Bluesign is supposed to help the company achieve this and other sustainability targets.
