Asics has launched a partnership with I:Collect (I:CO) on a program to recycle and reuse its products at eight marathons in 2019. The program will debut at the Barcelona Marathon on March 10. As part of this initiative, the Japanese sportswear brand is calling on runners and supporters to return their used sports shoes and apparel at the Barcelona Marathon Expo or at the Barcelona flagship store on Avinguda Diagonal. Participants will receive a thank-you discount voucher, which can be used on a next purchase. The program will be delivered at seven further Asics-sponsored races across Europe this year, among them the Paris Marathon and Stockholm Marathon. In addition, Asics said than all merchandising and promotional apparel developed for the races is made from sustainable materials. The brand, which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2019, has committed to reducing product-related greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent globally by 2030.
