Asics is taking over the sponsorship of the Brazilian volleyball and beach volleyball teams from Olympikus through the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The sponsorship deal was the most important contract for the Brazilian brand of sports shoes owned by Vulcabras, which has been cutting costs to return to profitability. Gumercindo Moraes Neto, who became recently Asics' country manager in Brazil, worked for Olympikus many years ago, trying to develop the brand internationally.
