ASICS’ revenues for the 1st quarter ended June 30 rose 21 percent to ¥51.68 billion (€351m-$449.5m), but substantially higher taxes dragged net income down by 4 percent to ¥5.62 billion (€38.2m-$48.9m). The sales increase was led by the U.S. market, which jumped by 52 percent to ¥11.89 billion, and by 28 percent higher sales in Europe, which reached ¥18.64 billion (€148m-$160m) in the period. Sales in Japan increased by only 2 percent to ¥19.08 billion.
