Resorting to blockchain technology, Asics is auctioning its first NFT collection of non-fungible tokens, alias NFTs. Called Asics Sunrise Red, the collection comprises 189 NFTs around nine “digital footwear products,” among them the Gel-Lyte III, Gel-Quantum 360 and Metaracer, as well as flip-flops and sandals. The nine models will have a Limited Edition (20 NFTs each) as well as a Gold Edition with a metallic-gold colorway (one NFT each). Proceeds from the auction will be going toward the brand’s new Digital Goods Artist-In-Residence Programs. NFT purchasers will receive digital 3D models and textures of their NFT shoes, to be used digitally and in the Metaverse. Purchasers of Gold Edition NFTs and of the #1 of the Limited Edition will in the future receive a free NFT from designers in the artist-in-residence program. The auction will run from July 15 to 19 on OpenSea.io.
