At the upcoming Ispo show, Gaspo, the Austrian manufacturer of skis and snowboards, will present itself under a new name: GPO Sports. The change of name comes along with a new business structure: Since the beginning of the year, GPO Sports is an independent business unit of Gaspo, a family-owned company that markets sporting goods on the one hand and garden furniture on the other. According to Christian Gattinger, managing partner, the new structure will meet the company's approach as “a small but excellent ski producer.” Gaspo moved into the sports business in 1963 and was a pioneer in the snowbard sector, producing snowboards as early as 1983. Currently, GPO Sports offers a wide range of products including skis for children, carving skis, snowboards and skateboards.
