BASF exhibited its Infinergy E-TPU (expanded thermoplastic polyurethane) at K 2019, the trade show in Düsseldorf that focuses on the fusion of the digital world with the worlds of production processes and product development. BASF showcased in particular new mini beads and a new processing method, along with related new applications. The mini beads have a diameter of 2.5 to 3.5mm, less than half the size of normal Infinergy beads. The new applications include tennis rackets, bicycle saddles, sports playing surfaces and safety footwear. Besides their reduced diameter, the round shape of the particles helps improve the filling behavior, enabling their bars in the mold to be easily filled.
