Bauer Hockey has announced its takeover of ProSharp, a skate sharpening and profiling company based in Sundsvall, Sweden. Founded in 1984, ProSharp is a partner of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, among others, and is trusted by hockey players in the National Hockey League (NHL) as well as national teams and professional clubs across Europe. ProSharp offers commercial-grade systems built for teams and retail stores, as well as sharpening and profiling machines that are ligthweight and portable, suitable for at-home and travel use. The acquisition is meant to enable Bauer Hockey to further customize skate fit and optimize player performance. For authorized Bauer retail partners with skate sharpening services, ProSharp’s operation can improve turnaround time while adding new services, said Bauer, as ProSharp’s technology can easily add profiling and other features to a retail store’s skate service offering. In addition to expanding ProSharp’s reach with top players and leagues around the world, Bauer Hockey plans to expand ProSharp’s reach with youth and minor hockey players.
