Bauer Performance Sports lifted its sales by 9 percent to $109.6 million for the three months until the end of November, which was a rise of 10 percent in constant currencies. It was aided by the acquisitions of Cascade Helmets, a maker of lacrosse helmets bought in June; and Inaria International, a team sports apparel specialist bought last October; but the company also enjoyed robust sales of ice hockey equipment and related apparel. Even without Inaria, the group's apparel sales were up by 43 percent in the quarter. Then again, Bauer suffered a decline in sales to National Hockey League (NHL) teams, due to the NHL lockout. The entire group's sales were up by 11 percent in North America and by 5 percent elsewhere. It ended the quarter with net profit of $6.1 million, down by 26 percent, but its adjusted net profit climbed by 64 percent to $7.3 million. For the half-year until the end of November, sales were up by 6 percent to $257.9 million, which was an increase of 9 percent in constant currencies, again driven by some categories of ice hockey equipment. Adjusted net profit shot up by 19 percent to $30.2 million for the six months.
