Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, has introduced a £4 million (€4.9m-$6.2m) fund to go toward projects that make use of sports to handle social issues and increase active participation. The first round of bidding is open through Oct. 1, and a total of £2 million will be divvied up; winning projects will receive £50,000-£250,000 (€60,750 to €303,750-$77,250 to $386,300) over the next two years. The remaining amount will be up for bids in 2011.
