There’s a lot going on at Foot Locker right now. We recently wrote about the company’s major reorganization and declining results, as presented in its Q2 report, but the footwear retailer is also celebrating 50 years in business this year.
Foot Locker says it plans to go big and celebrate for a whole month, releasing limited edition shoes with partners, holding events and a lot more. To kick things off, the company had the honor of starting the trading day at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Sept. 5, with the traditional ringing of the big bell. Foot Locker’s CEO and President Mary Dillon did the ringing.
“As we commemorate this milestone, we’re focused on the future and celebrating our position as the ‘Heart of Sneakers,’” said Dillon. “Our deep-rooted connection to sneaker culture and the dedication of our Stripers have fueled our success, and we’re gearing up for the next 50 years. Through our Lace Up Plan, we’re driving sustainable growth by reimagining the in-store and omnichannel experience, strengthening our brand partnerships, and deepening customer engagement.”

Foot Locker’s 50th-anniversary celebration will also include:
- A limited-edition collection of footwear and apparel with distinctive black and white colorways and gold accents, created in partnership with Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Puma and Converse. The collection will be available online at FootLocker.com and in select stores as of Monday, Sept. 9.
- Events in New York City throughout September, including a performance for FLX Rewards members by Grammy-nominated artist and brand ambassador Coi Leray, organized in partnership with Adidas and produced by Complex.
