The announcement coincides with the launch of the Hyperboot by Nike x Hyperice in the UK, Europe and Canada.

Hyperice, a California-based wellness brand specializing in therapy technology, has announced Dutch professional footballer Virgil van Dijk as its newest athlete ambassador. Van Dijk, 34, captains both Liverpool FC and the Netherlands national team. The announcement has come in tandem with the launch of the Nike x Hyperice Hyperboot in the UK, Europe and Canada on October 2. The Nike x Hyperice Hyprboot launched in North America in May.

The Hyperboot is a mobile high-top device designed to help athletes and fitness enthusiasts relieve tension and relax their muscles. A system of dual-air Normatec bladders bonded to warming elements evenly distributes heat throughout the shoe’s upper, helping drive heat deep into the muscle and tissue in the feet and ankles. This system accelerates warm-up and recovery. The Hyperboot can be used while standing, walking, sitting or traveling.

Van Dijk is a regular user of Hyperice products, having used the Normatec dynamic air compression line for training and post-match recovery for years, said Hyperice. The central defender has won the Premier League twice with Liverpool as well as the Champions League. Before joining Liverpool, Van Dijk played for Southampton, Celtic and FC Groningen.
