To celebrate 25 years of its Kombat line, the Italian sportswear brand Kappa has teamed up for a heritage-meets-fashion collaboration, revisiting 18 historic football jerseys that changed the look – and fit – of the modern game. Its partner is Slam Jam, an Italian streetwear curator known for blending subculture and performance style.

Among those 18 football clubs are AS Roma, Juventus, Monaco, Fiorentina and Leeds United.

The collection

The Kombat 2000–2025 Anniversary Edition merges heritage design with streetwear reinterpretation, featuring updated materials, new fits and archival colourways.

Highlights include a Slam Jam-exclusive silhouette inspired by the original stretch-fabric jersey that revolutionized football apparel with its body-hugging fit and aerodynamic cut.

The capsule also features a visual campaign starring Djibril Cissé, the former French international and cult football icon, shot by photographer Vito Fernicola.

A tribute to Kappa’s storied football heritage

When Kappa debuted the Kombat line at the turn of the millennium, it reshaped football aesthetics – replacing oversized kits with slim, performance-driven silhouettes that later became standard across the industry.

The anniversary collection underscores how heritage sportswear and streetwear continue to converge, following recent collaborations between Adidas x Wales Bonner, Puma x Coperni and Umbro x Aries.

By reconnecting football performance with cultural identity, Kappa reaffirms its position at the intersection of sport, design and subculture – a space increasingly central to the modern sporting goods landscape.

The Kappa Kombat 25th Anniversary collection is available now via slamjam.com, Kappa’s flagship stores and select global retailers. The first release, on Nov. 5, is dedicated to Genoa FC, Italy’s oldest active football club, founded in 1893. Additional jerseys will be released in the coming days.
