Bridgedale has appointed Christian Benedikt as business development manager for Europe. Benedikt, who most recently ran K2's snowshoe and cross-country ski business in Germany, will take care of the British sport socks brand in Germany and Austria, and then extend his coverage to Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe. He will have an office at Invia, which represents Mountain Equipment in Austria, Germany and Italy. Bridgedale and Mountain Equipment share the same parent company, The Bollin Group. Meanwhile, Bridgedale is seeking new distribution partners in North America, where it has been distributed so far by Garmont. It is also recruiting an executive for the newly created position of product manager, to be based at its office in South Cumbria. Bridgedale says it has continued to raise its market share in the U.K. in the last two years, and its international business now makes up over half of its turnover.
