Burberry, the luxury fashion company whose golf apparel is sold in many European countries, is planning on cutting up to 540 jobs in the U.K. and Spain as part of a restructuring in response to the economic climate. A plant in South Yorkshire, England, will close, eliminating 170 jobs, directly, with another 120 possible tangential to the plant. There could be 250 layoffs in Spain. The chief financial officer said the moves could save $42 million to $49 million, while costing about $88 million in cash for this financial year. Third quarter revenue for the company increased by 9 percent, and comparable store sales grew by 3 percent.
