Capranea, a brand of upmarket ski apparel launched in Switzerland and Austria in 2009, is expanding into Germany this year and holding talks for a distribution deal in France. The Swiss brand was started last year by Marc Haensli, a former executive with Odlo and several Swiss distribution companies. Its apparel offers a mix of function and fashion, using both technical fabrics and more fashion-oriented materials such as leather, at a retail price of €700 to €900 for a jacket. Capranea was sold last year in about 10 stores in Swiss ski resorts and about the same number in Austria, through MT Fashion in Innsbruck, which also dealt with five customers in Italy. Germany is to be covered by SF Sports Fashion in Sindelfingen, which already sells Conte of Florence.
