Chevrolet, the American automaker, has announced a three-year partnership with the One World Futbol Project, a B-corporation that uses sports to resolve conflicts, teach tolerance and build communities. Chevrolet will donate 1.5 million “virtually indestructible” footballs to children in disadvantaged communities worldwide, including war zones, refugee camps and disaster areas. A global network of organizations will help distribute the balls. The deal makes Chevrolet the founding sponsor of the organization. The company is increasing its participation in football overall, having recently signed on as a sponsor of the Manchester United football team. The company hopes the five-year deal will help it become an iconic brand around the world. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Chevrolet will sponsor preseason matches in China.
