Citing higher than anticipated cancellations, lower than expected at-once orders and softness in its internet business, Under Armour lowered its forecast for the fourth quarter to sales of $179 million to $180 million from prior indicated guidance of $204-219 million, about 15 percent less than forecast in the third-quarter earnings call – when the guidance was lowered by $10-15 million from its initial forecast. Sales for the full year 2008 are now expected to be $725 million to $726 million, compared with initial guidance of $765-775 million. This does represent growth, however, from the $606.6 million recorded in 2007. Net income, at $76-78 million, will show a decline from the $86.3 million recorded in 2007. Through nine months, Under Armour had net income of $29.9 million on $546.0 million in sales. The company now projects earnings per share to be $22-24 million, well below the $74 million it had predicted in October.
