CMDsport reports that the management of Deportes Cronos has spent the year strategizing to make up for a projected loss in revenue of about €4 million next year, when it will stop distributing Nike products to its associated retailers. The American sports giant has determined that from now on retailers will have to do their buying directly in Spain, rather than through Deportes Cronos or any other buying group in the country. To compensate, Deportes Cronos might bring back its own private label, Inno, which was first developed before the financial crisis of the late 2007-10, or increase the number of own-stores – in areas where associated retailers are not doing business. Deportes Cronos currently runs two stores under its own name and one under the Essential banner, which specializes in sports fashion. Another one will open soon. A third possibility is to increase purchases from suppliers other than Nike. With the loss of the Swoosh, Adidas, which has been doing a similar amount of business, has become Deportes Cronos' top supplier.
