Confirming long-standing speculation, Nike has signed up as the new technical sponsor of the AS Roma football team, replacing Kappa from the 2014-15 playing season. The Italian first-division team had a contract with Kappa lasting until 2017, but it will be terminated ahead of time. Nike's contract, whose financial terms have not been reported, has a duration of ten years. The Swoosh will provide the jerseys and other products for training, competition and even leisure. The management of the team, which fell under the control of American interests two years ago, says the deal will help Roma to become a more global brand in the world of football. The team has already played in the U.S. in recent months.
