Adidas has completed a 20,400-square-meter expansion of its North American headquarters in Portland, Oregon. The project, which kicked off before the pandemic in 2018, includes three additional buildings on campus, a new gym, cafes, parking and a soccer field. The expansion was realized by the team of Portland-based Lever Architecture, Studio O+A and Gustafson Guthrie Nichol. Adidas says it now provides about 49,000 square meters of total office space for its nearly 1,700 employees in the city. In the new “Gold“ building of the new campus, which Adidas calls “The Village,“ employees have access to a dining hall and a lab where they can get creative on their own. Since last month, U.S. employees have been required to come into the office at least three days a week, with the option of taking two additional weeks a year to work from anywhere. Business Insider writes that to help employees return to the office, Adidas has offered free food, raffles and activities to its Portland employees, as well as mental health resources and free virtual therapy sessions.
