Alantra Private Equity’s fourth fund has acquired a controlling stake in SPW Fabrics, a Spanish manufacturer of technical fabrics for sportswear, swimwear, workwear, and healthcare applications. SPW’s founders will retain a significant stake in the company and will remain involved in the business, Alantra said in a statement.
Founded in 1997, SPW Fabrics is based in Dosrius, around 40km from Barcelona. The company specializes in manufacturing circular synthetic fabrics based on polyester, polyamides, elastane, cationic fibers, and other blends. It produces high-performance fabrics from 35 to 450 g/sqm for all types of markets. At the request of its customers, it creates new bespoke fabrics. All its fabrics are Oeko-Tex 100 Class I.
SPW Fabrics has developed a portfolio of more than 200 high-performance fabrics in the standard collection for all types of sportswear (active and fashion), workwear and swimwear, in various polyester, polyester/elastane and polyamide/elastane fibers.
SPW Fabrics recently surpassed €20 million in revenues. Most of its revenues come from exports, primarily to France, Italy and the Benelux region. Its global clients include Le Coq Sportif, Puma, Adidas, Rapha, Gobik, and Banana Moon.
