Cercley faces competition from Austrian group Head. Bruno Cercley or the Head group? Two candidates have come forward to take over the Aqualung group. Its situation has been tense since it was placed in receivership on May 16. A hearing was held on June 18 at the Nice Commercial Court, and the ruling is expected on June 26.
On April 9, Sport Guide revealed that the Austrian group Head had entered into exclusive negotiations to take over the French group. Since then, Aqualung’s cash flow has faltered, with a suspension of payments declared on May 2.
Founded in 1946 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, it was a subsidiary of Air Liquide before being sold in 2016 to private equity firm Montagu Private Equity and then to investment bank Barings.
