The merger of Intersport Sweden and Intersport Denmark is now complete. The ambition of the two organizations is to strengthen Intersport’s position in the Nordic region through coordinated investments, shared platforms and more efficient processes, as we have reported.
Intersport is entering this phase with strong sales growth, with both customer activity and store sales developing positively in both markets. This provides a solid foundation for the major investments that will be rolled out in the coming years.
“In Denmark, we will be investing significantly in modernizing retail technology and existing stores, as well as opening new stores,” said Pontus Petersson, CEO and Group CEO of Intersport in Sweden and Denmark. ”This will primarily take place in areas where Intersport is not currently present. At the same time, we are expanding our collaboration with Magasin, including a larger store area in Magasin on Kongens Nytorv and a broader online range.”
A central part of the transformation is the construction of a brand new 32,000-square-meter Nordic central warehouse in Sweden, which will replace the current Danish warehouse, among other things. This is being done to ensure long-term competitiveness and to support future investments in the logistics of the future.
“This fall, we will launch a new omnichannel solution in our stores, where the digital and physical worlds merge. The goal is to create an optimal customer experience. At the same time, we will build a common e-commerce platform that will offer an even broader and deeper product range to our customers,” Peterson concluded.
