New Balance has inaugurated its recently expanded athletic footwear factory in Skowhegan, Maine, which further reinforces the brand’s commitment to US manufacturing. The $65 million investment has added a 11,150 square meter expansion to the existing factory building, which the company acquired in 1981. Nearly 2,000 square meters of the existing building are also being renovated. New Balance Central Maine employs 400 associates.

As part of the opening and the brand’s commitment to the local Maine communities, New Balance announced a $75,000 gift to Main Street Skowhegan to support their River Park project and the donation of New Balance hiking and trail running shoes to their Outdoor Gear Lending Library.
New Balance is headquartered in Boston and employs around 12,000 associates globally. In 2024, the company reported worldwide sales of $7.8 billion. New Balance owns five athletic footwear factories in New England and one in Flimby, UK.
