Sport 2000 Group International will use its presence at ISPO 2026 in Amsterdam to push forward its international expansion strategy, centering the effort around a dedicated Members’ Lounge designed to bring brands, partners and decision-makers into direct dialogue.
The retail service organization for independent sports retailers currently operates around 3,000 stores across 17 countries, generating retail turnover of €5.3 billion. That scale places it among the largest specialist sports retail networks globally, and it is precisely this network the group intends to grow further through the trade fair.
Why a Members’ lounge, not just a stand
Rather than a conventional exhibition presence, the Members’ Lounge functions as a standing meeting space at ISPO: a venue for the kind of one-to-one strategic conversations that shape licensing deals and market entries. Margit Gosau, CEO of Sport 2000 Group International, considers Amsterdam the springboard for that work. The group’s EMEA foothold, she said, gives it the base from which to expand partnerships and forge new contacts, calling ISPO a venue that “brings together all the relevant players in the industry.”

A standing lounge for one-to-one conversation is a proximity play, not a volume play.
It mirrors how the group actually expands, pairing the reach of an international network with the category expertise of independent local retailers in a cooperative model and a peer-to-peer relationship. That combination is what Sport 2000 has used to carry successful retail concepts into new markets in partnership with local operators, most recently in Poland, which the group entered in January as its 17th market.
Gosau described the model as built on “trust, expertise and long-term partnerships” rather than on opportunistic market entry, a distinction that matters for a cooperative competing against both vertically integrated brands and larger generalist retailers for supplier attention and shelf space.
