Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries Limited, is set to expand Superdry’s product offering in India with the introduction of an athleisure line, The Economic Times has reported. The move marks Superdry’s first venture into the global athleisure segment. Reliance Retail is planning to open multiple Superdry athleisure stores across India. The new outlets will initially sell men’s and women’s apparel, with plans to add footwear at a later stage.
In October 2023, Reliance Brands Holding UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Brands Limited in the UK, and Superdry formed a joint venture, which acquired Superdry’s intellectual property for the territories of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for 40 million British pounds (€46.5m).
Superdry first entered the Indian market in 2012 through a partnership with Reliance Brands, part of Reliance Retail. Superdry already operates stores in major Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
