Crocs has told its distributors that they are welcome to continue enforcing intellectual property rights of the shoes, but that it will stop doing so in all distributor regions effective Feb. 1. The company is planning to downsize and can no longer afford the expenses associated with enforcement in distributor territories. During its high growth phase, Crocs vigilantly enforced its intellectual property rights. Under the new edict, distributors must keep Crocs apprised of all enforcement actions, and the company will have the final say on all decisions.
