Asics has joined RE100, an international, multi-sector coalition of companies that run or have pledged to run their business entirely on renewable energy. Asics itself hopes to draw exclusively on renewable energy in 60 percent of its “business bases” by 2030 and in all of them by 2050. It has already met the full objective at its overall headquarters and its Institute of Sport Science, both in the Japanese city of Kobe, and at its European headquarters in the Dutch city of Hoofddorp. RE100 is run in partnership by the Climate Group, a non-governmental organization that hopes to bring about net zero carbon emissions the world over by 2050, and CDP, a non-profit organization that operates a “global disclosure system” of environmental performance for governments, companies and investors. The Climate Group is part of the We Mean Business coalition.
