Deloitte is teaming up with Billie Jean King to help advance the future of women’s sports. The announcement was made on September 1 by Lara Abrash, chair of Deloitte US, with the tennis legend and activist in New York City at the third “Power of Women’s Sports Summit”, an event produced by Billie Jean King Enterprises to support the Billie Jean King Cup.

The partnership will focus on three areas of women’s sports: growing strong leaders through sport, powering the business of tomorrow, and connecting key players across the marketplace. These objectives will take shape as a set of initiatives rolling out in 2027.

Global revenues in women’s sports are expected to reach $3 billion in 2026, while the media coverage of women’s sports has jumped to 15 percent of all sports coverage from around 3 to 5.5 percent in just a few years, said Deloitte. Furthermore, a 2023 Deloitte survey found that 85 percent of women who played sports said the skills they built there were important to their career success, a figure that reaches 91 percent among women in leadership positions. Yet, women’s leadership potential and economic value is often left on the sidelines and infrastructure has not kept pace. “At the very moment women’s sports is breaking records, too much of that potential is being left on the field,” said Abrash.

King, 82, is a former world no. 1 tennis player and a pioneer for gender equality. Deloitte has previously authored research on the sector, including “Game Changers: Unlocking the potential of women’s sports” (2026) and “Beyond the billion-dollar barrier: Charting the next phase of growth” (2025).
