A group of major European retailers has joined forces to launch the Association for Textile Waste Management, which aims to help manage clothing and footwear waste generated in the Spanish market. The group comprises Decathlon, H&M, Ikea, Inditex, Mango, Kiabi, and Tendam. The non-profit association was formed in connection with Spain’s Law 7/2022 of April 8, 2022, on waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy. The new legislation encourages the prevention, separate collection and recovery of waste and strengthens the waste hierarchy principle. The presidency of the new association will rotate annually among members, starting with Mango.
