The collaboration is designed to accelerate climate action and drive sustainable innovation in winter tourism.
Eight of the world’s most prominent ski resorts have teamed up to form the Global Sustainability Ski Alliance, a groundbreaking international initiative aimed at accelerating climate action in the ski tourism industry. The initiative was announced on May 7 at the Interalpin trade fair in Innsbruck.
Members of the alliance include Compagnie des Alpes (France), KitzSki (Austria), Kronplatz (Itay), LAAX (Switzerland), Levi Ski Resort (Finland), NZSki (New Zealand), Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal Bergbahnen (Germany) and SkiStar (Sweden and Norway). These ski resorts together operate more than 800 ski lifts and account for approximately 25 million skier days. All participating organizations have already implemented individual sustainability initiatives in recent years.
The alliance aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, modernize infrastructure and support low-carbon innovation through standardized data, cross-border collaboration and shared knowledge. In addition to environmental concerns, the alliance is commited to strengthen local communities and improve supply chain management.
