England Golf has launched its Sustainability Drive 2025-2030, an expanded strategy aimed at making golf a leader in environmental and social impact following the organisation’s recent win at the Sports Business Awards 2025.

The announcement follows England Golf’s recent win of the Sustainability in Sport Award at the Sports Business Awards 2025 on November 21, recognising the organization’s ambition and progress in driving sustainable change across the world of golf.

Four key goals for golf’s sustainable future

Sustainability is at the core of England Golf’s 2025–2030 strategy “Let’s Inspire More Golfers” and the new plan delineates an expanded vision for the coming years. The updated program, which builds on the previous Sustainability Drive, sets out four key goals for golf clubs, facilities and golfers:

  1. Reduce use of resources and deliver tangible and measurable impact.
  2. Make golf a leader in the sports industry for driving environmental and social impact.
  3. Support golfing facilities and golfers to integrate sustainability into decision-making.
  4. Showcase England Golf tournaments as an example for sustainability.

Golf courses as custodians of English countryside

“As custodians of large areas of English countryside, the golfing community has a unique opportunity to enhance the natural environment and lead the way in biodiversity recovery and efficient use of resources, as well as community wellbeing,” said Kirstin McEvoy, Head of Sustainability at England Golf.

Expanded digital resources and direct support

The Sustainability Drive 2025–2030 will be implemented through a combination of direct assistance from the England Golf Sustainability Team and expanded digital resources. The organization will expand its suite of tools, including the Sustainability Toolkit and sustainable agronomy video tutorials developed in partnership with The R&A.

Additionally, new resources will be added to the England Golf sustainability webpage in the coming months. The goal is to involve, inform and support associated golf clubs and facilities by providing them with the knowledge and advice necessary to achieve meaningful progress.
