Hot on the heels of its Q2 financial figures, On has released the company’s second most important set of numbers: its sustainability progress figures. The Impact Progress Report 2022 marks On’s third annual sustainability report.
The company, which has as its dream “a future where everything we make is fossil-free and engineered for circularity,” highlights two important markers from 2022: The On Clean Cloud technology and the Cloud Neo subscription service. The report also highlights On’s recently expanded Onward resale scheme in partnership with Trove.
On has set ambitious targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. By 2030, On aims to achieve a 46 percent absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 55 percent economic intensity reduction in Scope 3 emissions.
According to the brand, in 2022, On decreased CO2eq emissions per unit of value added by 12 percent compared to 2019. In addition, On increased the use of recycled polyester in its products to 85 percent, bringing it one step closer to achieving its goal of 100 percent recycled polyester and polyamide in 2024. On also aims to use 100 percent recycled, organic, or petrol-free cotton by 2024. In 2022, 30 percent of the materials On used across all product categories were fossil-free. In apparel and accessories, 64 percent of materials used were fossil-free.
