Decathlon has announced the appointment of Jimena Almendares as Global Chief Digital Officer. She joined Decathlon in August. Almendares has 20 years of experience in business innovation and has worked in 16 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Before joining Decathlon, she held managerial positions at international companies like Meta, where she served as Customer Experience Chief, and Intuit, serving as VP of International Development and CEO of its subsidiary Intuit Payments. Almendares is also currently a member of the boards of Life Time Inc., a chain of health clubs in North America and a publicly traded company, and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.
Alongside her professional career, she is also a sports enthusiast. The Mexican-born executive is a three-time national ice-skating champion. This is why joining Decathlon “feels deeply personal,” she said in a LinkedIn post, where she also explained that in her new role at the global retailer, she will accelerate Decathlon Digital’s strategy across e-commerce, supply chain, and manufacturing. Decathlon Digital, the retailer’s digital entity, has a workforce of 5,000 people worldwide in tech, product, design, data management and cybersecurity.
