Décathlon came out as the company that French people prefer the most in a survey of 1,276 persons conducted in March and April throughout the country on behalf of the French financial daily Les Echos. The leading French sporting goods retailer was followed by the French Postal Service, by Ikea and by two mass merchants, Carrefour and E. Leclerc. These companies and services came ahead of Google and Coca-Cola, among others. The survey was meant to establish a “global reputation index” on the basis of such criteria as the quality of each company’s products and services, its solidity, its proximity to the customers, its dynamism, its credibility, its social and environmental involvement and its attitude toward its own employees.
