Decathlon has announced plans to open a second brick-and-mortar store in the San Francisco area. It will be located in the Potrero Center shopping mall, at the corner of 16th Street and Bryant Street. The new 38,370-square-foot store, which is scheduled to open in November, will feature a large community space for events and workshops, alongside more traditional selling areas. The French sporting goods retailer opened its first full-sized U.S. flagship store earlier this year in Emeryville, also in the San Francisco Bay area, as previously reported by SGI Europe (Vol. 30 n°11,12 of 22/03/2019). It made the investment after testing the market with a small “lab” shop that it opened in downtown San Francisco in April 2018. Decathlon is also expanding in Canada, where it now has four stores.
