Deckers Outdoor Corporation, the owner of a wide range of footwear brands, including Ugg, Teva, Ahnu and Tsubo, reports that it has taken over the Hoka One One brand completely after acquiring a minority stake last July. The French brand of trail running shoes was originally launched by Jean-Luc Diard, a former chief executive of Salomon and then a vice president of the Tecnica Group, and by a business partner, Nicolas Mermoud, former marketing manager at Salomon and Dynastar. The new president of Hoka One One is Jim Van Dine, who will also remain the president of Ahnu and Tsubo, based in Richmond, California. Diard will be in charge of international distribution, while Mermoud will take care of sports marketing (more on this in the Outdoor Industry Compass).
