Desigual launched its first winter collection of sporting goods, including apparel, footwear and accessories, at Ispo. The first spring/summer sports collection had already been launched at Bread & Butter last July. The main focus is on the French, Spanish, Italian and German markets. Desigual sells its sports collection only to independent sporting goods retailers and will not be available at the company's mono-brand stores. The Spanish brand has set up a completely new sales force for its sports collection, which has been developed for women only. A total of 45 independent sales agents are currently taking care of about 500 doors in Spain, France, Germany and Italy. Since January, Carlos Maiz acts as general manager of Desigual Sport. He had been wholesale director for Desigual's fashion line since 2007, before assuming the post of commercial director for footwear in October 2012. Desigual will be implementing a special marketing campaign to support the launch of its sports collection, starting in May.
