Forum Sport has hired GXO Logistics to handle order preparation, distribution and returns in Spain. These operations will take place at warehouses in two towns in the Basque Country: Vitoria, which lies near Pamplona, and Basauri, which lies near Bilbao and is the seat of Forum Sport itself.
According to the retailer’s CEO, Diego Llorente Gómez, GXO Logistics is an “ideal partner” because of its “use of technology.” The company has, in fact, developed what it calls an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). It runs 50 distribution hubs in Spain and Portugal. It claims to have both the “largest logistics footprint” in Spain, at 1.5 million square meters, and the largest logistics workforce in Spain, with a payroll exceeding 8,500 employees.
Its parent company, GXO, claims to be the “world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider,” with a payroll exceeding 130,000 and more than 970 facilities covering some 200 million square feet. GXO is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Forum Sport operates in Iberia. It lists 48 stores on its website, has two outlets and also runs 17 stores under the Dooers banner. It is majority-owned by a cooperative called Grupo Eroski.
